In 2021, the University of "New Uzbekistan" was established under the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan as a continuation of the Presidential Schools. This new institution garnered significant attention and excitement, with detailed articles about it published on platforms such as Kun. uz and Daryo. uz. The university initially offered three majors: Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. The President awarded a four-year grant to the students who enrolled in the first year.In the second year, the university planned to introduce new programs in Industrial Management and Nanotechnology. However, it became apparent that the university was not equipped to offer a Nanotechnology program, leading to its discontinuation. By the third year, the university expanded its curriculum to include new courses in Economics and Data Science, Pedagogy, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, and Cybersecurity.

The University of "New Uzbekistan" distinguishes itself from other English-language universities by being established with the realistic goal of training new personnel to meet governmental needs. The institution is particularly attractive to graduates of the Presidential Schools, who may seek high-quality education opportunities within the country. The university’s four-year grant system, introduced in 2022, is a significant incentive, making it a highly competitive and desirable option for graduates from regular schools and lyceums across Uzbekistan.Overall, the University of "New Uzbekistan" represents a strategic effort by the government to provide high-quality education and develop a skilled workforce, contributing to the nation’s progress and development.

The question arises: Is the education offered by the University of "New Uzbekistan" worth it? In the context of Uzbekistan, I believe the education provided by this university is quite valuable, even if you have to study on a contractual basis. One benefit is networking with other students, it is likely that future leaders in government and key sectors will be graduates of this institution. The government established this university and granted it full independence to nurture the potential of talented students within in country, thereby preventing them from seeking education elsewhere. Essentially, it functions as an autonomous university under government support.

However, the major downside of this university is related to its grant policy. If you study at the university for a certain period and then, for instance, obtain a visa to the US or win an "EYUF" grant, you are required to repay the grant for the time you studied at the university.On a personal note, while you may feel that the university environment is unique and stimulating, once you step outside, the familiar life in Uzbekistan may seem somewhat mundane.

Therefore, my advice is to consider the University of "New Uzbekistan" as a last resort if you have a strong desire for learning and adventure.
