* Now, I will provide you with some tips on how to increase your chances of being accepted into NYUSH and avoid making mistakes.

1. Never assume that relying solely on your academics is the only path to success (or acceptance)!!

- In September, while preparing for Standardized tests, specifically the SAT, and believing that the SAT would be the primary factor in impressing admission officers, I encountered failure. Yes, I failed.

How did I fail? I registered for the October SAT and received my results (1320), missing the early decision and action deadlines. My only hope remained with the regular admissions cycle. Since my math performance was poor on my initial attempt, I decided to retake the SAT in December. As I entered the exam center, I felt unwell - as if I had caught a cold - which led me to get 660 in English (again) and 670 in math. Consequently, my academic performance did not offer much hope, apart from some achievements in Olympiads in my province. That's why, try to balance all aspects of the application.

2. Get your Personal Statement essay checked frequently; i.e. invest in it.

- I vividly recall the time I asked my friend Shoxrux to review my essay. His response was blunt: “Just delete that essay and start from scratch.” I was depressed by his suggestion, especially since I had already revised it four times and hoped it would secure my admission to my dream universities. Nevertheless, I persevered, rewriting numerous drafts and seeking feedback from individuals who had attended prestigious universities. Eventually, I came to appreciate the value of their critiques and revisions, and I am now grateful for the final version of my essay.

3. Optional is never optional!!

- As you may know, the supplemental essay for NYU is technically optional, but I believe it holds significant weight in your application. Prior to writing mine, I sought advice from friends currently studying at NYUAD. They emphasized the importance of making the essay as impeccable as possible, so I strived for perfection. In selecting a quote for the NYU supplemental essay, I opted for one, not among the suggested quotes.

- "The quote was “Film is just a mirror of the society we live in.” Sophia Loren, a famous Hollywood classical actress.

So, I fully reflected on the quote by incorporating elements of my culture and expressing the need for change. Now, let's delve into the beginning of my essay.

“The heated argument between the mother-in-law and the fiancée, the affair of the wife with a close relative, debates for identifying the birth father of the child by conducting DNA tests, etc. I accepted these common movie topics in Uzbek cinematography as normal until I attended summer camp in the 9th grade.”

* Thus far, I have been accepted into several universities. Additionally, I have been awarded the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship.

Stay tuned for future updates. I trust this post has been practical.

Cheers!!!
