What is Google Developer Student Club (GDSC)? And how to become a GDSC leader?

Hello, I am a Google Developer Student Clubs lead at Cambridge International University in Tashkent. Google Developer Student Clubs are community groups for college students interested in Google developer technologies. All undergraduate or graduate students interested in developing as programmers are welcome. By joining DSC, students develop their knowledge in a peer-to-peer learning environment and create solutions for local businesses and their communities.

GDSC Leader Selection Process

I'll list some approximate dates so you can get a fair idea of ​​what it will look like and how long it will take.

There have been some changes to the application process from 2023 applications.

Here we go -

The first stage

I set a note on the application page . So I got a notification when the application forms opened for my region.

The form asked us to fill in our full details, our work/social handles like GitHub, LinkedIn, etc.

Next, we had to answer a few questions:  What motivates you to run a Google Developer Student Club at your college? ,  What is your experience in project or team management? and  which technology are you most interested in and why? What is your experience with this technology?

Other Section:  Record a 90-second video and show why you are the right person to be the GDSC leader at your college.You can find video ideas on YouTube.

Record the video and fill the answers with great enthusiasm and take enough time and think about it.

NOTE: There is also a referral  field when applying for a DSC Lead . If your university has a DSC leader for the previous year, ask them for a referral.

I filled the form on July 28, 2022.

The Next Round — Interview

The next email I received was on 5th August, 2022. A video call had to be scheduled, selecting a date within the next 2 weeks with a representative. The interview could have been scheduled at any time — the calendar was filled with 30 minutes slots across the 24 hours, for the next 2 weeks.

I scheduled the interview for 

Fri Aug 12, 2022 5pm – 5:30pm (UZT).

This interview is going to be a 30-minute call. The representative will ask you to give an introduction, ask about your projects, your leadership experience, and your future plans with DSC. My interviewer was a woman from India. We talked for about 35 minutes. At the end of the interview, she asked me if I had any questions for her. I didn't know what to say because I wasn't prepared for this question and I asked the current Interview how soon the answer will be published ? 😂. She told me within a month.

Final Result

I received the selection email on 19th August, 2022, after 7 days. Note: this will vary according to your university. This process takes time, so be patient.
