In our the last ACS (Academic Communication and Skills) class, the professor led a reflection activity on the past year.

-What are you grateful for after graduating your freshman year at this university ?

Me:

-On my list: professors and Reader’s club.

Miss Dilshoda, you are not only an instructor who teaches us subjects but also a role model for our future careers.

From your class, I had three expectations: improving my academic English, developing my public speaking skills, and broadening my horizons. Now all have come true! I've written reflective essays and movie critiques, delivered my first TED Talk, completed MIRO projects, and learned debate skills.

And Miss Gizem Uzuner — our economics professor. One unique side of this professor is that she always makes our brain work in a way that understanding the logic of any formula  not to memorize them. Also she is always there to offer extra help on anything in her power: let it be the course, assignments or career recommendations.  Without a doubt, next professor is Mukhammadali Khayotov. He is the master of his field in terms of both teaching and programming. When I was at school , Computer Science was the most painful thing for me, especially programming part. However, here I learned C++ programming language easily on Introduction to Programming course. More to say about other professors too, but let’s move to the next part.

Reader’s club—thirteen weeks of reading, analyzing, learning, talking, crying about books and movies with the family of readers at university. During the second semester I have attended this club. Each Saturday we had a session that we discussed one book that we have read during the week. Usually we had questions to answer in a small groups, and different activities to each book.  Take, for example, “The Boy at the Back of the Class”, “Educated”, “Flowers for Algernon”, and “Before the Coffee Gets Cold”. These were just a few of the books we discussed. At this club, our mental growth has progressed steadily with each book analysis. We realized a lot of things such as  the fact that you don’t need to tick other people’s expectations box to have a value. You are already enough.

Overall atmosphere of this university has proven that I did the right choice a year ago.
