Dear Eurofins BioPharma hiring committee,
I am excited to apply for the program and get the opportunity to gain valuable experience at Eurofins Biopharma as an intern. I believe that my academic background and skill set will make me an ideal candidate for the position.
I am a junior Biochemistry student working as an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Abe Koo’s lab at the University of Missouri. At the Koo lab, the overall objective of the research is to study small signaling molecule-mediated defense responses against biotic stress and lipid metabolism in plants.
Plant oils are valuable, renewable resources of reduced carbon that are used for food, fuel, and chemicals. My current research focuses on enhancing oil production in plants through genetic engineering. This involves utilizing a variety of methods and techniques, including the generation and screening of transgenic plant lines through molecular biology procedures like Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), genomic DNA extraction, RNA extraction, and gel electrophoresis. Additionally, I conduct further assessments through lipid extraction, thin-layer chromatography, and hormone extraction for liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Through this research project, I am gaining valuable experience and learning about the challenges involved in creating sustainable solutions for useful plant-derived products. This research further grew my passion for the pharmaceutical industry where I aim to eventually contribute to the advancing biotechnological innovations in the environmental and pharmaceutical industries.
I am ecstatic to work in the pharmaceutical industry and to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge instruments. I look forward to learning techniques like high-performance chromatography, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance. This internship offers a unique opportunity for me to apply my classroom knowledge of biochemistry and chemistry with the set of skills I gained working in a professional, academic lab setting to a real-world application. I believe that this internship will be a perfect starting point for my long-term aspiration of working in the pharmaceutical industry.
Overall, I am grateful for the opportunity to apply for this program and am excited about the possibility of being a part of it. I believe that this would be an outstanding way for me to develop my skills as a scientist, gain valuable insights into the pharmaceutical industry, and potentially contribute to Eurofins’ research and development efforts.
Respectfully,
Charoskhon Uktamboeva
